The Island Pilot
The Island Pilot is a gaff rigged sailing boat and has a sturdy glass fibre hull with built in buoyancy; varnished hardwood coamings, seats and trims; solid timber floorboards; nonslip deck surface and pvc fendering around the gunwale and polished bronze deck fittings.
Hull colour is Oxford Blue; grey decks and off-white internally. The rig has mainsail, jib and staysail in cream cruising quality cloth; solid Douglas Fir mast and spars with polished bronze fittings; stainless steel rigging; Tufnol blocks and cleats; Wykeham-Martin furling on jib; polyester sheets, halyards and control lines.
There is an auxiliary 4hp Yamaha outboard fitted to an adjustable mounting bracket.
Equipment includes a 7’ glassfibre rowing dinghy, anchors, mooring lines, chart, compass, boathook, lifebuoy, flares and deck brush.
Moorings are available throughout the Islands and with a lifting keel the Island Pilot can be beached for a leisurely walk ashore. At 4.9 metres long she is small enough to sail single-handed and big enough to accommodate a crew of four with ease.
